A youth, identified as Ishfaq Ahmed Dar of Sopore, succumbed to injuries in a hospital on Sunday morning bringing the death toll in the ongoing uprising in the Kashmir Valley to 60 since July 8.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Ishfaq was ruthlessly beaten by armed forces on July 23 in Sopore. He was admitted to Soura Institute of Medical Complex where he died Sunday.
With his death, Indian troops and police personnel in the Valley have killed 60 people so far due to use of excessive force since July 8, the day when Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, along with his two associates, was killed by the Indian troops. Most of the civilians who have died so far succumbed to bullets or pellet gun injuries.
Meanwhile, the authorities continued imposing curfew and other restrictions for the 23rd consecutive day across the Kashmir Valley on Sunday to prevent demonstrations against the killing of innocent people by the Indian forces.
Meanwhile, the top Hurriyat leadership has extended the strike call till Friday (August 5) to protest against the civilian killings during the ongoing Intifada in the Valley.
According to Kashmir Media Service, All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Syed Ali Gilani and Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a joint statement issued in Srinagar announced relaxation in shutdown daily after 6:00 PM in the evening. The leaders also announced a joint agitation schedule for the first five days of August.
