The five-day visit of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to China finally ended with a note of optimism as both countries signed as many as 7 agreements and 17 memorandum of understanding for increasing cooperation in numerous sectors including textile industry, energy, infrastructure and many others. The meeting between the Chief Minister and Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli aimed at promoting contacts and strengthening of ties between Pakistan Muslim League-N and Communist Party of China.
From the point of view of Pak-China friendship, the tour was significant as the implementation of these agreements will write a new history in Pak-China cooperation. It is hoped that the tour would prove fruitful for Pakistan and increasing cooperation would not only enhance bilateral relations between the two countries but also pave the way for socio-economic development of the country.
