In the latest development in the ongoing tussle between the women of the country and Orya Maqbool Jan, the former have finally agreed to peace negotiations with the columnist.

“Look, none of us want to do this,” said Shagufta Hassan, a woman. “But these aren’t the most ideal of circumstances. Desperate times call for desperate measures. This is that desperate measure.”

“Initially, we thought he was just a boor like the many that exist in the country,” said Fatima Burki, a woman.” Like, disapproving of girls playing cricket or women having a career. But when he upped the ante and started saying that all women are essentially masochists who get sukoon when they are beaten up a bit, we knew that things were getting a bit out of hand.”

“We would now like to talk to him to be able to get basic writ of state. Much like the Swat negotiations between the ANP and the Taliban, both sides absolutely despise each other. These talks are only to maintain an uncomfortable status quo before the two sides can figure out what to do next.”

Orya Maqbool Jan was unavailable for comment.
