Indian human rights activist and journalist Teesta Setalvad said that the Kashmir dispute cannot be settled through the use of brutal force.

The death of Burhan Wani has prompted the world to pay serious heed to the human rights violations in the Indian-held Kashmir, she said while speaking at a session organised in Nagpur by human rights organisation Indian Social Action Forum (INSAF).

She said the sufferings of innocent Kashmiris deserve a concrete action and the world community acknowledges the courage and resilience of Kashmiris who fear neither death nor military barbarism by India.

Setalvad noted that mass protests following Wani‘s killing reflect the degree of disenchantment among the public which can only be tackled through unconditional dialogue.
