CDA to plant 300,000 saplings during monsoon

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will make the upcoming Monsoon Tree Plantation Drive (MTPD) successful with participation of people from all walks of life, said Environment Member Sanaullah Aman.

Aman said that during the MTPD, 300,000 saplings of different species would be planted all over the city. Special arrangements have been made to ensure proper growth of the saplings to be planted in the drive so that the ‘green character’ of federal capital could be further enhanced, he added.

The CDA environment member said this while chairing a meeting at CDA headquarters to finalise the arrangements of upcoming MTPD. The meeting was attended by environment director general and other senior officers of formations concerned of the authority.

The meeting was informed that MTPD would be launched on August 10 at open area of rose and jasmine garden and in this regard, a colourful launching ceremony has been planned which would be attended by the people from different walks of life particularly by the students of different educational institutes.

The meeting was informed that famous personalities, celebrities from showbiz and other areas are also expected to participate in the launching ceremony.

The meeting was also briefed that during the upcoming campaign, special attention has been given to forest area.

Furthermore, 15,000 fruit trees would also be planted at Lake View Park during the campaign.

Environment Member Aman directed the officers of the environment wing to finalise arrangements of MTPD 2016 at the earliest so that desired result could be achieved.
