Former president Asif Ali Zardari felicitated Murad Ali Shah on his election as Sindh chief minister by the Sindh Assembly on Friday and paid tribute to Qaim Ali Shah for his services to the people.

In a message issued by the PPP media cell Friday, the former president said that the election of Murad Ali Shah by an overwhelming majority of members of the provincial assembly was a sign of trust in his leadership to lead the province during a difficult time and to meet the myriad challenges that it faces.

“I am confident that the newly elected chief minister will rise to the occasion and meet the expectations of the people of all shades of opinion and persuasion,” he remarked.

A challenging task lies ahead of the new chief minister, Zardari said adding that Murad Ali Shah possesses ability, temperament and confidence to successfully encounter the challenges.

It is both a challenge and an opportunity, he said in his message to Murad Ali Shah advising the new chief minister to have faith in Allah, seize the great opportunity, face the odds with conviction, courage and without fear and serve the people of Sindh selflessly and with humility.

Zardari also paid tribute to the outgoing chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for his ‘wise stewardship’ of the province for the past eight years and for his unswerving loyalty to the party and the people of Sindh.

“The PPP is proud of Qaim Ali Shah and his services to the party and the people of the province will be long remembered,” Zardari said.

The former president also felicitated the members of Sindh Assembly for bringing about the transition smoothly and in a manner that reflects true democratic traditions.
