Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Saturday signed a summary to extend special policing powers of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh.

According to the Home Department, a notification has been issued in this regard.

Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari had given approval for the long overdue decision of extension of the Rangers’ stay in Sindh during a party meeting in Dubai.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI0 MPAs Khurram Sher Zaman and Samar Ali Khan on Wednesday submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly, demanding an extension to the special powers of Rangers in Sindh. The resolution demanded that the Rangers’ powers should be extended to the whole Sindh province.

Talking to the media, the PTI leaders said that special powers of Rangers should be extended to the whole Sindh province as criminals and terrorists also live in other parts of the province. Had the provincial government of Sindh extended powers of Rangers, the other day’s incident of firing on a vehicle of security agencies would not have occurred, he added. It was a popular demand of the people of Sindh to extend the powers of Rangers to whole Sindh to ensure a sustainable peace, he added.
