If you thought Bollywood heroines are mere pretty faces, eat your words. Sonakshi Sinha, who released her single Aaj Mood Ishqaholic Hai in December 2015, will soon make her playback debut with AR Murugadoss’s Akira.
She follows Priyanka Chopra, who created a space for herself in the international market with several music albums, Alia Bhatt and Shruti Haasan, who’ve lent their voices for songs in their own films.
Sonakshi recorded a track for the upcoming film. “It (the song) is about how the girl will not stay silent, but fight back and that’s the spirit of the song. We were shooting the music video and every time I went to give a shot I would end up singing it with all my zest. It’s just one of those songs.
So the producers suggested that I should record it as well. Everyone was shocked because I spent a total of 30 minutes behind the mic! It was a fantastic experience and totally the kind of zone that I want to be in. Hai ranjishein… is the kind of song I have always wanted to sing. Shekhar (Ravjiani) was also encouraging and that helped a lot,” DNA quoted Sonakshi as saying.
The actor also told DNA that the song will be a promotional one as the film’s already complete.
Akira will see filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in a negative role while Akshay Kumar will make a guest appearance. It is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film Mouna Guru and will release on September 2.
