Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari voiced his reservations regarding the recent cyber crime bill, which was lately adopted by the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology.
Bilawal urged his party leaders to oppose the bill in its current state.
According to the PPP chairman, certain points included in the cyber crime bill were against basic human rights.
The government, on the other hand, has initiated efforts to contact the Pakistan People’s Party leadership and clear any apprehensions or reservations they might harbour regarding the bill.
Earlier, the Standing Committee of Senate approved cybercrime bill and announced punishments for the violators.

A session of Senate’s Information Technology Committee held in Islamabad in which it was decided that strict action in the form of seven-year imprisonment and Rs 5 million fine would be taken against those who will capture nude pictures of children.
The one who will post the picture of anyone without permission or will send indecent messages would also be sent to jail for one year along with Rs 1 million fine.
Fake SIMs holders would also face three-year imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine whereas tempering of stolen mobile phones was also declared crime with Rs 1 million fine and three years in custody.

According to the bill, no action will be taken against the culprits without court’s permission while suggestions to establish special cybercrime courts was also been given in the meeting.
