Pakistani drama ‘Fifty-Fifty’ enjoyed by US consulate employees

The Karachi US consulate employees in their latest video, are watching an episode (Basheera in Trouble) of Pakistan’s favourite ’90s comedy show, Fifty-Fifty.

The show was aired in the 1980s on national television (PTV) and it includes satire and parody, with some slapstick comedy.

While watching the clips, the employees were utterly amused with what the Paindoo Productions had to present inBashira in Trouble.

“Don’t believe him,” said one American woman, chuckling and shaking her head in disapproval when Bashira tells his love Rano that he will come back to her.

“All of the women in this movie are sad,” remarked one of the other employees.

Some employees struggle to comprehend what the actors are saying as they constantly switch between broken English and Urdu.

“I don’t think that’s English,” says one confused American.

Another employee notes the sweet hairstyles the Pakistani actors flaunt. “Check out the hair,” he says.

Others appreciated the hilarious music and sets. “I want this soundtrack,” says one, while the other notes, “The sets are amazing.”

They also notice that an actor’s turban may have been wrapped around a coconut. “Is he wearing a coconut?” he asks.

One of the US consulate employees absolutely nails being Pakistani though, when she says, “Mostly, I like Pakistani dramas. Hamsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. They both have Fawad Khan.”
