The New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA), having to support landing and parking of A-380, the biggest passenger aircraft in the world, would be fully operational by June 2017.
The scheduled date of completion of all construction works of the project is December 25, this year. After completion of all awarded packages, six to eight months would be required for testing and operationalisation on the airport, said a report on Thursday quoting official sources.
The federal government has allocated Rs 3 billion under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2016-17 for the construction of road network of NIIA. The National Highway Authority (NHA) has also started work on roads leading to the new airport.
