He said the economic turnaround achieved by Pakistan under the present government is seen with admiration in the US.

Ambassador Jilani said that there was keen interest amongst reputable think tanks and academic institutions in the US, including the United States Institute of Peace and John Hopkins University, which have expressed their interest in inviting the finance minister for an address to showcase Pakistan’s economic achievements on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and IMF in Washington, DC later this year. The finance minister asked that his interaction with US think tanks be arranged.

Ambassador Jilani also apprised the Minister about the Pak Envoys conference being held in Islamabad. He also shared with him recent developments with regard to Pak-US relations.

The minister praised the efforts made by Ambassador Jilani aimed at enhancing Pak-US economic ties, particularly trade. He said it was the mutual desire of leaders of both countries to take bilateral relations to a new high and said all possible endeavours should be made to contribute to this end.

  1. And they expect us to believe this!!! They are preoccupied with imaginings that only such persons can. Being a regular customer for seeking loans from World Bank and writing off 280 Billion of Bank loans of near and dear ones in last three years does reflect this economy. Jalil Abbas wants another extension. He is a US citizen anyway as is his family perhaps.
