Abdullah, a four-year-old child, who was found at Do Darya, Karachi’s restaurant strip by the Arabian Sea, has finally been reunited with his maternal family.
The decision came Friday after a local family and civil court settled Abdullah’s custody battle between his father and his maternal relatives.
Abdullah’s mother was found dead in an apartment in Delhi Colony when the police was trying to locate the four-year-old’s parents. According to reports, Abdullah’s parents lost track of him while visiting Do Darya in May.
Abdullah was dropped off by a man at Edhi Home in Clifton, Karachi, which houses orphans. However, after a prolonged investigation, Abdullah’s lineage was traced.
Chaudhry Iqbal, Abdullah’s father, had moved the court for seeking his son’s custody. However, Abdullah’s immediate maternal relatives voiced concerns over letting Iqbal have total control of him.
The court then decided to hand over the custody to Abdullah’s uncle and aunt, his mother’s brother and sister. The will also be responsible for all of Abdullah’s care-taking expenses. The court also allowed Abdullah’s father to visit his son whenever he feels. Both families agreed to the terms amicably.
