During the hearing, Akhtar’s lawyer requested the court to provide his client ‘B’ class prison facilities since he was an educated political leader of a major party in the country.
After giving an ear to his detailed arguments, the ATC ordered to send MQM’s leader to the requested cell but that too only for 15 days.
Meanwhile, lawyer Shaukat Hayat too defended Rauf Siddiqui in the court and said, his client was being victimised on political basis and all the allegations against him were groundless.
The court later reserved its decision on Siddiqui’s bail application plea, which would be announced on August 3 now.
Both the leaders of Karachi’s biggest political party were arrested after an ATC rejected their interim bail applications in the case pertaining to asking former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain’s to provide medical assistance and shelter to criminals and gangsters in his hospitals.
Dr Asim Hussain’s is a close of aide former president Asif Ali Zardari and the main suspect in the terror facilitation case.
