The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) announced that it would not take part in the election of new Sindh chief minister.

“We will neither support nor oppose the election of Murad Ali Shah as the chief minister of Sindh,” a senior MQM leader, Sardar Ahmed said.

Speaking on this occasion, Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan said that there was no significance of voting in the Sindh Assembly.

“We will not join this drama. There is no hope of policy change by changing a face,” he maintained.

Hassan also protested the removal of Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.

“The way Qaim was asked to resign was deplorable,” he said.

The eight-year rule of Qaim came to an end on Wednesday after he stepped down as chief minister of Sindh. His resignation was accepted by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad.

The decision to reshuffle the Sindh cabinet was taken at a high-level meeting jointly chaired by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former president Asif Ali Zardari in Dubai this week.
