205 cases of foreigners being issued Pakistani CNICs detected, Senate told

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday informed the Senate through written reply that 205 cases had been detected where foreigners were issued CNICs after June 30, 2014.

In a written reply to another question, he said 1,679 Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) had been blocked and cancelled which were issued after June 30, 2014, due to suspect or fake particulars, confirmed alien family and fake attestation.

A total 205 CNICs have been blocked and their cancellation process was underway after fulfilling codal formalities, the minister said.

Intelligence agencies from time to time communicate and share the information with NADRA for blocking of CNICs issued to non-national and accordingly, NADRA blocks their CNICs and after fulfilling codal formalities cancels their CNICs, the minister said.

He said so far, 16 CNICs have been cancelled on their recommendations.

Nisar also informed that 11 car theft cases have been registered in Islamabad with arresting no accused person during the last two months.

In a written reply to Senate, the minister said “the cases are under investigation and during occurrence of car theft, mobile was patrolling in the area but as it is a large area, it cannot be ensured due to vast area of occurrence of crime.
