Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to launch a premier service at some of the selected routes on Pakistan’s Independence Day (August 14) this year.
“New leased PIA planes. Day not far when PIA will be at par with the world’s finest airlines IA. That’s Nawaz Sharif!” PM’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
She revealed pictures of wide-body high-tech aircrafts through her Twitter account.

Last week, PIA Spokesman Danyal Gillani said the service would be initiated on some of the domestic routes and a few of the international routes initially.
“However, the airline is in the process of finalising the modalities and I will only be in a position to explain the details once these are finalised,” he added.
He said that PIA was negotiating with Sri Lankan Airlines for the lease of four A-330 aircrafts. PIA had advertised for leasing wide body aircrafts last month and Sri Lanka’s national carrier expressed interest in leasing out its four new wide body A-330 aircrafts.
Therefore, a high-level team of PIA led by CEO Bernd Hildenbrand recently visited Colombo to inspect these aircrafts and to negotiate the contract, he said.
These aircrafts would primarily be used for PIA’s premier service which was being launched from mid-August.
“With new aircrafts, more professional crew and improved service standards, the new service aims at providing an altogether different experience to the passengers. This service will go a long way in helping PIA regain its market share both domestically as well as internationally,” said Gillani.
