Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Monday and conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan over the dastardly terrorist attacks in Kabul on July 23 when twin ISIS suicide attackers targeted a protest demonstration of Hazara Shia minority community killing over 80 people and injuring over 250 others.
While strongly condemning this brutal act of terrorism, the PM extended his deepest sympathies and prayers to all the families who lost their loved ones in this heinous act, and wished early recovery for those who have been injured.
Nawaz said that the government and people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with the government of Afghanistan and our Afghan brethren in this hour of need. Pakistan remains strongly committed to deepening cooperation with Afghanistan in fighting the scourge of terrorism, which is a common enemy, the PM reiterated.
Afghan President Ghani thanked PM Nawaz for expressing solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan. He said that both the countries have been facing repeated attacks of terrorists which are harming the people.
It's heartening that he was able to take time away from election strategizing to do this.
