IMC to hold its third meeting today

Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Chief Officer Asad Mehboob Kayani has called the third meeting of Islamabad’s first ever elected local body on Wednesday (today).

The meeting will be held in the meeting room at Pak-China Friendship Centre, Shakarparian, Islamabad.

Islamabad Mayor Ansar Aziz will address the gathering comprising all members of the IMC. The agenda of the meeting includes confirmation of the minutes of second meeting that was held on June 27, to sought out a report on the progress made by the committee on ‘Conduct of Meeting bye-laws’ and the recently inaugurated recarpeting and rehabilitation work of IJP Road, first project to be launched by Aziz.

Since the bifurcation of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and transfer of many directorates to IMC, including sanitation and water supply, the people of Islamabad look at their elected representatives to solve their civic problems.

Islamabad is presently facing a shortage of water. Many water tankers are out of order and it is impossible to cover the width and length of Islamabad with present number of tankers.

The mayor had, time and again, promised that he would do all in his capacity to rid the city of water crisis. However, it is yet to see him deliver on this count.
