A female student was allegedly raped by her teacher at a school in Ramban district of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK). The accused teacher has been arrested.
According to an Indian channel, the teacher committed the crime at his school’s office.
Police said the incident occurred in Chambalbas village of Banihal tehsil on Friday when the teacher, identified as Hayat Khan, allegedly raped the girl, they said.
On some pretext, Khan had asked the girl to wait for him after the classes were over and later took her to the school office room where he sexually assaulted her.
When the girl returned home, she narrated the incident to her parents, who filed a complaint at the Banihal police station following which the accused was held.
“Raids were conducted and the accused was arrested by evening. A case under various sections has been registered against him and we are awaiting the results of the medical test of the girl,” said senior police officer Nasir Ahmed.
