Movement against corruption will strengthen democracy: Sarwar

Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf leader and former governor Punjab Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar has said that sit-ins will not be needed if the government ends corruption and looting of resources. Peace is not an obstacle in the way of progress, but failed policies and corruption of rulers are the obstacles, he added.

In a statement on Sunday, he said PML-N doesn’t want to execute self-accountability and do political stunts by declaring opposition responsible for all matters.

“Talking about eradication of corruption and accountability is not a crime,” he said, and added, “Democracy will get strengthened by a movement against corruption. All institutions including NAB are ineffective and the government has disappeared from the scene. Rulers are busy in saving their own government instead of protecting the government.”

Sarwar said that load shedding is totally out of control of the government and severe load shedding has made people miserable. It is beyond any doubt that PMLN government is making records of incompetence and failure.

PTI “accountability movement” will be according to law and constitution and we always talk about the real democracy and people rule, he said. Pakistan is on the verge of collapse and destruction, but rulers are trying to fool people by chanting empty slogans of progress and prosperity, he added.
