With a new season set to begin imminently, Lionel Messi has adopted a fresh new look to go with it.

The Barcelona talisman has dyed his hair bleach blonde ahead of the new football season.

His wife Antonella Roccuzzo posting a picture of the 29-year-old forward on Instagram on Sunday afternoon.

Lionel Messi isn’t just any ordinary player, but even the Barcelona star is sometimes prone to following footballing trends.

A number of high-profile players including Aaron Ramsey, Sergio Ramos, Phil Jones, Samir Nasri and even Marouane Fellaini have decided to go blonde in recent months, sparking a little adoration and a lot of derision.

Earlier, Barcelona called on their supporters to rally behind Messi earlier this month after the Argentine was handed a 21-month suspended prison sentence for tax fraud. Apparently, the wonder boy has now thrown his past behind him with a new look for the upcoming season.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored 26 league goals last season to help his side win La Liga, but he failed to lead them to Champions League glory. The Argentine also lost 2016 Copa America final to Chile after missing a spot-kick during the penalty shoot-out.

For now, we can only wait and watch if this new hairdo brings about a change in the fortune of someone who is already considered the greatest player on the planet.
