Five TTP operatives killed in Rajanpur shootout

Five operatives of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed while three others managed to escape in an operation here on Saturday night.

According to police officials, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had, acting on a tip-off regarding presence of extremists, conducted an operation in Rajanpur.

They said an exchange of fire took place between a CTD team and terrorists in which five TTP operatives were killed while their three accomplices managed to flee taking the advantage of darkness.

Arms and hand grenades were recovered from the possession of the terrorists killed in the pitched gun-battle. The bodies were shifted to a local hospital for postmortem.

After the encounter, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt for the fleeing terrorists.
