Muslim Institute (MI) on Saturday organised a rally from China Chowk to National Press Club to show solidarity with Kashmiri people fighting for a just cause in the Indian-held Kashmir (IHK).

The rally was led by Standing Committee for Defense Production Chairman Lt.Gen (R) Abdul Qayyum Malik. Former ambassador Syed Zafar Ali Shah, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Leader Ghulam Muhammad Saffi, Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Tahir Sarwar Mir and Muslim Institute Coordinator Tahir Mahmood were also present on the occasion.

A large number of people from different walks of life including members of civil society, political and social sector representatives, students, lawyers and journalists participated in the rally.

The participants carried placards and banners displaying slogans condemning state terrorism by India in Kashmir valley, Kashmiris’ right of self-determination, appreciation for their freedom struggle, solidarity with Kashmiris, and urging the international community to play its due role in the implementation of UN resolutions.

Speakers called the world forums, governments, and rights bodies to come forward and raise their voices against atrocities in the Indian-held Kashmir (IHK).

Addressing the participants of the rally, the speakers said that India, which claims to be the largest democracy in the world, had killed around 50 Kashmiris and injured around 1,550 to quell the protests during the last two weeks.

They stated that the security forces also used pellets, air-gun and tear gas due to which the protesters lost their eyesight in IHK.

Due to the killing of Burhan Wani and his companions, the protest demonstrations had escalated for the last few weeks, after which Indian forces are continuously using brutal force against the Kashmiri people.
