Karachi operation to continue till restoration of peace: president

President Mamnoon Hussain said on Saturday that the Karachi operation would continue till complete restoration of law and order in the metropolis.

He was speaking at the ceremony of distribution of laptops among the students of Institute of Business Administration (IBA).

The president said through the National Action Plan, the situation all over the country would be improved and made conducive for the national economy.

He said there was a need to utilise all the energies and resources for the education and training of the youngsters in the country in order to brighten their future.

The president said the curriculum should formulated be in accordance with the national needs and aspirations, and for this purpose the government was taking proper steps.

He pointed out that the future of the country was linked with the future of youngsters and those nations that deviate from this objective or lag behind in the realms of education, could not compete in the race for progress and development.

The president made it clear that there was no change in the route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and that one should not pay any heed towards such propaganda.

He said with the completion of CPEC, a number of opportunities would come to the fore and that youngsters should prepare themselves to fulfill their responsibilities in this regard.

He said the distribution of laptops as well as academic projects would contribute towards academic excellence which would help cater future needs.

The president said in the past the Kalabagh Dam project had become controversial but those at the helm of affairs did not come up with any other dam project which caused loss to the country’s economy.

He said the present government was implementing right policies for the betterment of the country and the results of these were coming to the fore. He also asked the people to use their energies for the policies that are for the betterment of the country and for the elimination of any irregularities.

The president said the country for the past decades has been facing challenges that include terrorism and extremism.

The government was carrying out operation against terrorism and extremism which was going ahead in a successful manner, he added.

He said Operation Zarb-i-Azb and Karachi Operation were part of this approach. By the end of this year, the problem would be overcome and there would be a marked difference in the law and order situation in the country, he added.

He said: “We will have to tackle the factors that give rise to tendency of extremism. Education is important to curb any such tendency.”
