Anti-dengue day was observed in the province to create awareness among the masses on Saturday.
Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Department Ali Jan Khan led a walk arranged by the department which started from Directorate General Health Services and ended in front of the Punjab Assembly building.
The participants displayed placards inscribed with anti-dengue slogans and precautionary measures against dengue.
Ali Jan Khan also distributed pamphlets among people. The secretary said coordinated efforts by the government departments and the community was essential to control dengue.
Ali Jan Khan said at present no dengue patient was under treatment in any hospital in Punjab. However, complete arrangements for treatment of patients were available in all public sector hospitals.
Meanwhile, anti-dengue walk was also arranged in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where medical superintendent Dr Nouman Maqbool led the walk.
Similarly, an awareness walk related to anti-dengue measures was also held in Lady Aitchison Hospital led by Medical Superintendent Dr Samina. Pamphlets among patients and their attendants were distributed on the occasion.
DG Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Sayed, Additional Director General Dengue Control Dr Fayyaz Butt, Director Health Non-Communicable Disease Control Dr Haroon Jehangir Khan, officials and nursing students participated in the walks.
