Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said that his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its coalition partner in the provincial government Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have a common and shared vision for merciless accountability.
He said this while talking to a representative delegation of JI at CM House on Friday. The delegation comprised senior minister Inayatullah, MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah and Dir District Nazim Sahibzada Fasihullah. The JI delegation spoke about the strategy to dislodge the corrupt and dishonest political leadership in the country.
They assured a similar approach on the Panama Leaks and other corrupt practices in the country and to be an active partner in the move for street mobilisation against the government. They also assured all out support at provincial and party-to-party level.
The chief minister said that the PTI wants a change in real sense, creating and legitimising space for the honest leadership for efficient and effective governance in the country. The party is still focused on building institutions in the province and devolved power to the lowest tier of governance under a definite aim to empower the people to make their own decision for their own welfare, he said.
“After the completion of devolution of powers, we would be working on the stabilisation process of lowest tier of governance,” he added.
Khattak said that his government effectively maintained financial discipline in the province and the resources were diverted to the public welfare activities in the province. Beyond that, he is working on expanding the resource generation base of the province and it is good to see our partners on the same page when we think about the man in the street, he said.
The chief minister said that we are not claiming that we have done everything for the people or for that matter, we have changed the system upside down, the weaknesses are still there and the system is still deficient to deliver.
“We are working on it, we are laying hands on the corrupt and inefficient public servants and we are encouraging the honest people to be at the top in the system,” he said.
