The Islamabad High Court Thursday sought a report from the Inspector General of Police over alleged arrest of chairman Move on Pakistan (MOP) Mohammad Kamran while defying court orders in the controversial banners case.
A single judge bench of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani while directing IGP to submit the report in the registrar office disposed of the contempt petition.
The direction had come in a plea stating that the respondents arrested the petitioner on July 20, despite the fact he was granted protective bail by the IHC.
During the course of proceedings, the Advocate General appeared before the bench and apprised that Kamran was not arrested in the Islamabad territory and if he was arrested somewhere else then he must have been arrested in another case instead of the banners case.
Sardar Taimoor Aslam, counsel for the petitioner pleaded that the court order was for whole country and not just for Islamabad. He said his client was arrested in Faisalabad without asking him for his crime.
After going through the arguments the court directed authorities to deal with the matter according to law and submit a report at the registrar office.
