PTI’s movement is against corruption not democracy: Sarwar

Former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on Thursday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s movement is against corruption and for accountability and not to derail the democracy.

He said the party would end the protests only on acceptance of the opposition’s Terms of Reference (TOR) for the judicial commission. He said PTI did not believe in unconstitutional ways to form the government rather the party would come to the power with the votes and public support.

Imran Khan would become the prime minister through ballot only, he explained while warning the government against refusing the opposition’s demands on Terms of Reference. Chauhdry Sarwar said the PTI had a long history of democratic struggle and believed in the democracy since its inception. The party never supported any unconstitutional step and would not do so in the future, he stated.

Sarwar said the PML-N government was trying to befool the nation by playing the democracy card adding that the people were aware of the old tactics of PML-N and would not fall prey to them again. The only way to avoid the protests is to accept the opposition’s TORs, he said.
