British Parliament holds a weekly session called “Prime Minister’s Questions” and as the name suggests the sitting PM takes questions on all governance matters relating to politics, economics, security, social etc., from both the opposition and treasury benches in this session and give answers. It is a nerve wracking thing to imagine to be grilled in a house full of lawmakers but it is amazing to see how eloquently the PM answers each and every question which indicate his/her grasp on all the matters going in the country and the world . The PM does not know what questions are coming from the lawmakers but he/she is always prepared to give satisfactory answers. This session of Prime Minister’s weekly accountability which is telecast live is clear proof accountability and transparency of governance in the UK. I suggest we should also have a Prime Minister’s Questions session in our Parliament on a weekly basis wherein Pakistan’s PM can take questions from lawmakers representing people of entire country and give answers . Such a session will be very informative for the people of Pakistan and help bring transparency in governance which is very important to strengthen democracy in Pakistan.
