Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that the NFC award was never discussed in the 18 meetings of the Council of Common Interests during the last 10 years.

He said this while speaking at the question hour session in the Senate.

Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman said that the government was taking solid measures to promote technical education for achieving socio-economic development of the country.

“As part of such efforts, the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme (PMYSDP) had increased the number of trainees in the existing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in different field and trades to meet the demand of trainees, both nationally and internationally,” said the minister.

Rehman said that under the PMYSDP Phase-III, training of 25,000 individuals was in progress and 25,000 youth would be trained, next fiscal year, in the highly demand driven trades across the country. He said that overseas pre-employment training was being managed by Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.

He said that both the Federal Education and Professional Training ministries were imparting training to persons seeking employment abroad as well as in the local market and added that almost all the fields and vocations were being covered for imparting training.
