Imran Khan says democracy not under threat from army but from the kingdom of Nawaz Sharif; vows to hold the PM accountable on Panama Leaks

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to move the Supreme Court against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Senior lawyer Naeem Bukhari has prepared a reference against the prime minister.

According to a private TV channel, PTI Chairman Imran Khan will be the petitioner in the case.

Earlier, Imran Khan said that democracy in the country is not under threat from the army but from the Kingdom of Nawaz Sharif. He said the Pakistani nation is more pro-democracy than Turkey and that there is need for a new leadership in Pakistan.

Addressing a public meeting in Dudial in Azad Kashmir on Tuesday, Imran Khan said Pakistan was established to make it a model state and said that without an ideology no nation can survive.

Imran Khan said that whenever the prime minister goes abroad, his daughter Maryam Nawaz sits in the Prime Minister House. He said a bomb proof wall has been constructed at Raiwind costing Rs 600 million of the people’s money. He said the prime minister’s son lives in London in a flat worth Rs 6.50 billion and does not pay taxes.

He questioned the benefits that the people of Pakistan accrued from the foreign visits of the prime minister. He said that after becoming prime minister in 1993, Mian Nawaz Sharif set up 28 factories and he is sending all the money abroad.

Khan said that today half of the population of Pakistan cannot afford two meals a day while 33% children are malnourished. He said the unemployment has increased and it is time to change the destiny of the nation.

The PTI chief said the party has formed government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the first time and would use the experience in Azad Kashmir from whatever has been learnt in the KP. He said there is less corruption in KP but admitted they could not deliver what they wanted.

Imran Khan alleged that those with the talk of breaking the begging bowl have obtained loans of $6 billion in three years and that the country is heading towards destruction.

He said that due to corruption, foreign investors are not coming to Pakistan and Pakistani youths are not getting the jobs. He said that if the rulers were capable of doing anything for the people, they would have already done it. He said the youth will get jobs when the corrupt are held accountable. He said the PTI would make a system, whereby no one would escape from accountability. He said it was not his party which included the prime minister’s name in the Panama Leaks. He said the PM will have to answer for his involvement in corruption.
