The government has set up a committee of five ministers for formulating recommendations for extension and amendment in the Pakistan Protection Act and Anti-Terrorism Act.

The committee will present its recommendations to the prime minister after consultation with opposition parties and reviewing legal aspects for extension in both the special acts.

There is also a possibility of a presidential ordinance before the recommendations of the committee regarding extension in the Pakistan Protection Act.

The Interior Ministry had sent a summary last month to the prime minister for extension in the PPA.

The committee is comprised of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid. The representatives of the Interior Ministry and Law Ministry will also be included in the committee.
