Mufti Abdul Qawi has been included in Qandeel Baloch’s murder probe, the authorities said the other day.
Qawi, on the other hand, stated that he felt immense grief and sorrow when he heard about Qandeel’s demise.
Her mother accused Qawi of inciting her sons to murder Qandeel and also demanded Qawi’s and her ex-husband’s arrest.
Police had decided to enquire from Qawi after a threatening video surfaced while Qavi slammed all the allegations and said that honour killing was strictly forbidden. On the other side, Qandeel’s brother had been sent to jail on a 14-day remand.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab assembly member presented adjournment motion which demanded serious strict action against honour killing.
The case might take many more turns. It may not only be the Mufti but the Facebook posts, the biradry and more. She did not care for the society and social-set-up she belonged to.
Mufti Qavi shot to fame after late Social Media sensation Qandeel Baloch floated selfies and video clips of her meeting with him on Social Media. These led to Mufti Qavi being stripped of his responsibilities as member of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and him being ridiculed by many quarters.
