Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi (SAPM) on Tuesday said Pakistan attached importance to its relation with Indonesia and intended to strengthen bilateral ties in diverse sectors including counter-terrorism.
Commending the efforts of the Indonesian government in its campaign against terrorism and dismantling terrorist network, the SAPM emphasised the need for enhanced cooperation in counter-terrorism between Pakistan and Indonesia.
Fatemi, in a meeting with the Indonesia’s newly appointed ambassador Iwan Suyudhie Amri who paid his maiden courtesy call on him, said Pakistan was committed to cultivating a cooperative and mutually beneficial relationship with ASEAN countries.
The SAPM recalled the visit of the President Mamnoon Hussain to Indonesia in March 2016, which he said provided the two sides with an opportunity to review the existing state of bilateral relations and to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
He assured the Indonesian ambassador of full cooperation and assistance by the Government of Pakistan to him in his efforts to enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries.
