‘Accession to Pakistan Day’ marked across country, Kashmir

Accession to Pakistan Day was marked across the country on Tuesday, condemning Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir and showing solidarity towards the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

Public and private organisations arranged seminars, conferences and discussion programmes in connection with the day and condemned the Indian forces’ brutalities in held Kashmir.

All-Parties Hurriyet Conference titled ‘Bleeding Kashmir; Call for Attention’ was arranged in Islamabad by Kashmir Youth Forum and other stakeholder in connection with Accession to Pakistan Day.

The speakers, in a unanimous resolution, condemned the killings of innocent Kashmiri people in occupied Valley by Indian forces, and urged the government to call a joint session of parliament to covey a strong message to the international community that “Pakistan stands with Kashmiris in their just cause”.

They also called for arranging separate conferences to highlight the Kashmir issue at the national and international level.

The speakers demanded a conference of International Union of Journalists was called to adopt strategy against attacks on journalists in occupied Kashmir. The resolution demanded release of political prisoners and lifting the ban on the visit of political delegations.

Leader of House in Senate, Raja Zafarul Haq, said the international community, Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC), United Nations and Human Rights Council would not come forward to resolve the Kashmir issue unless Pakistan made it an important part of its national agenda.

He said the government had to change its policies regarding India on trade and other matters to make the Indian government realise that “we cannot compromise on the killing of innocent Kashmiris”.

Kashmir Committee’s head Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Member National Assembly Ijazul Haq, Senator Sherry Rehman, Former Ambassador Masood Khan, renowned journalist Hamid Mir, leaders of APHC and others spoke on the occasion.

Every year, Accession to Pakistan Day is celebrated by the Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and Pakistan.

On July 19, 1947, the Kashmiris adopted a historic resolution from the platform of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar, demanding accession of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan in accordance with the Partition Plan and two-nation theory.

The resolution reflected the aspirations of the majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to protect their religious, economic and political rights.

Kashmiris want that India should withdraw its forces from the occupied territory and allow the people to decide their own destiny in accordance with the resolutions of United Nations (UN) but India had been denying them this right.

Consequently the freedom struggle launched by Kashmiris is still going on unabated. Kashmir issue has also become a flash point for the international community.

Black Day against the recent atrocities being committed by the Indian Occupied forces in the Indian Held Kashmir would also be observed on Wednesday.
