88 shopkeepers arrested in crackdown on hoarding, profiteering

The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) continued its drive against hoarding and profiteering on Monday and arrested 88 shopkeepers.

During the drive, 51 cases were registered against violators of the price act. The CDGL teams sent 32 out of a total of 88 shopkeepers to prison for three days after summary trial.

The CDGL special price control magistrates conducted raids on 998 shops in various areas of the city and inspected price of commodities. As many as 34 shopkeepers were challaned and fines of Rs 33,500 were imposed on them. The district administration has issued directions to the town administrators and price control magistrates to continue the crackdown on profiteers.
