Democracy is the best form of government, which is of the people, for the people and by the people, as all eligible citizens participate equally in it by voting for it, Adviser to Sindh chief minister for Information and Achieves Moula Bux Chandio said on Monday.
Chandio hailed the people’s strong action and power in Turkey, which thwarted a military coup attempt against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“Democracy represents notions of all the citizens of the country, whether majorities or minorities. It greatly helps in resolving conflicts and problems not only at national but also at international level. It provides dignity to the country and its people; therefore, it must flourish and thrive everywhere in the world. Democracy is better in all its forms and Pakistan also needs it for every,” he said in a statement.
He added, “Democracy is also the way for Pakistan to prosper among the comity of developed nations. Democracy is also needed to end poverty from the country. Salvation of peace and development in the country also lies in real spirit of democracy. We all have to work together for strengthening democratic institutions and end poverty and unemployment.”
He said it was Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who established real democracy in the country for the best interest of people. Shaheed Bhutto further boosted it while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also striving to make it durable in the country. Benazir Bhutto loved democracy and country and even laid down her life for it. She wanted to see Pakistan and its people as self-reliant in every sector of life.
“History shows that Bhutto family has rendered sacrifices of their lives for boosting democracy in a true manner. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had identified people as the actual corridor of power and founded Pakistan People’s Party with sole objective to empower the people of the country in the world,” he said.
The adviser said that corruption like Panama Leaks is the enemy of democracy, people and country, which needs to be eliminated. Those involved in Panama Leaks corruption have no right to rule any more in the country because of the fact that such rulers have ruined the image of Pakistan across the world.
He called for holding accountability of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Panama Leaks case so as to provide justice to the people and the country. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government also needs to show real democracy in the country by establishing rule of law and corruption-free society. There is also need to make all institutions in the country as democratic, he concluded.
