CM took revolutionary step by announcing ‘One Line Budget’

Punjab Chief Minister has taken a revolutionary step by announcing a ‘One Line Budget’ which allows hospital administrations to spend funds according to their requirements and priorities. This decision will not only improve the healthcare system, but will also raise the standard of services at public hospitals.

This was stated by Post-Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Khalid Mahmood during a meeting held in connection with a review of the performance of last year. The meeting was attended by MS Dr Niaz Ahmed, Director Monitoring Dr Junaid Mirza, Nursing Superintendent Deputy Chief Farhat Mahboob and other administrative doctors.

Khalid Mahmood told the meeting that during the financial year 2015-16, a total number of 15,19,821 patients visited emergency and outdoor patients department of LGH, who were provided medical facilities free of cost. He said the budgetary allocations fixed by the Punjab government last year for LGH have been spent in its entirety. He said that CT scan machine and mammography machines installed at Punjab Institute of Neuro Sciences (PINS) have been made functional, while a new MRI machine is also going to be installed at PINS this year. Mahmood further said that LGH has become a patient friendly institution due to an effective monitoring system, posting of senior doctors in all the departments and a provision of modern medical equipment. He also told that the policy of keeping the evening shift of OPD open has provided a great deal of relief to masses especially to government employees.

Mahmood said that a total of 76,459 operations were conducted and 58,000 patients were admitted at LGH last year. He also told that 1,92,448 x-rays, 83,544 ultra sounds, 69,535 CT scans, 15,403 MRI tests and 4,282 gastro scope tests were conducted last year. Moreover, a number of 14,764 patients were provided with the facility of free dialysis. He said that during the last year, 14 lac lab tests, 12,000 dental procedures and more than 700 angiographies were also conducted. Prof Mahmood said a raise in the number of visitors to LGH was observed as compared to 2014-15. He stressed the administrative doctors to continue to serve the ailing humanity with the same passion and dedication.
