Water level receding at Sukkur, Guddu barrages

The water level is receding gradually at Sukkur and Guddu barrages while there is a low flood at Kacha area of these Barrages, reported on Sunday.

On the other hand, Met office said rain-thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls is expected in a number of places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and at isolated places in South Punjab during next twelve hours.

Heavy downpour may generate Flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northeast Punjab and Kashmir.

Earlier, the local administration turned the water flow direction towards small canals due to a severe rise in Sindh River.

Higher officials also warned the natives to move to safe havens but the people are not ready to leave their houses. They said that the government representatives have to take a step to control the situation.

According to flood centre, the upper level of water at Sukkur Barrage exceeded 2,38,000 cusec however, the authorities released 1,83,000 cusec water at Kotri Barrage point as the water level has escalated to 66,000 cusecs.
