DHQ Sahiwal is facing serious problems.
Just 10-15 air conditioners are working out of the 149 in D.H.Q Teaching Hospital Sahiwal, all others are out of order due to missing parts. This was revealed by D.C.O Khawar Shehzad, when he was on inspection of hospital due to the expected arrival of CM Punjab.
Before this, when Commissioner Sahiwal Babar Hayat made surprise visit of hospital, senior doctors were not at their seats and condition of wards were also very poor. Bed sheets were dirty, cleanliness was nowhere. Store rooms were locked for many years and were in poor condition. Commissioner also took notice of the heat and suffocation in children ward.
M.R.I and CT Scan machines are not provided by the government. Patients are paying 1000 rupees for CT Scan to a trust which installed a machine in the hospital. 10 years before a machine was imported for CT Scan but now it is outdated. It should be replaced with a new one.
There has been no neurosurgeon in D.H.Q for past 7 months. So, the neuro-patients are referred to Lahore. As a result some serious patients who had head injuries lost their lives on the way to Lahore.
It should be inquired why petrol for generators runs short during load shedding? There is only one ambulance available for patients which also charging a heavy amount to facilitate the patients.
In spite of strict instructions of Punjab Govt. private parking stands are open everywhere, which not only illegal but also over charging the people. Hospital’s canteen provides poor quality things at a very high cost.
Dogs, cats and rats are ruling now in D.H.Q Sahiwal. They are freely wandering here and there all the day without any fear.
Another big jeopardy is created when there is need for a postmortem of female dead bodies at night, because at that time lady doctors are usually not available. Similarly, in some cases, male doctors perform ultrasound of women due to unavailability of lady doctors.
Job holders are compelled to use illegal ways to get medical certificates for medical leaves because the staff only cooperates when anyone fulfill their desire. If you choose the favorite way of relevant staff they issue to you fake medical certificate in no time.
As we all know that D.H.Q Sahiwal is a teaching hospital but Professors/Doctors are never ready to visit in wards and come at their duty places. In this kind of situation patients are totally dependent on medical officers.
I request the authorities take these problems into notice and resolve them.
