The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said the tourism sector is being judged as one of the major sources of economic development across the world and it is contributing a leading role towards economic uplifting of the respective people in many countries.

He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a hotel at Naran in Kaghan Valley on Saturday. Religious Affairs and the Minority Cohesion Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and MNA Mohtrama Tehmina Daultana were also present on this occasion besides a large number of entrepreneurs concerning to hostelling industry, tour operators, and the local people.

In Pakistan too, he added, the tourism sector remained a visible contributor for earning foreign exchange in the past, but the law and order oriented problems caused difficulties in this connection as well.

The governor while appreciating the promotion of quality hostelling facilities in the area said, it is the most important factor required to encourage and facilitate the tourists and through which they are enabled to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area.

While referring to the law and order situation, the governor said, with successful conduct of the Zarb-e-Azb Operation, peace has been restored in the entire country, especially in FATA, and now the government is heading forward to materialise its development plans on a vast scale – the tourism sector also bears no exception in this respect.

It is because of the untiring and relentless efforts and the immortal sacrifices rendered by the jawans and officers of Pak Army and the other security forces, the governor said. “We are having security and stability in the entire country which resulted in an influx of tourists to tourism resorts as well,” he added.

“Indeed, the northern areas of our beloved country attract a large number of tourists every year and their further development will add more attractions to tourists and a big contribution to strengthening the national exchequer,” Jhagra added.

He said it will prove a big source of generating employment opportunities in future too. “I am also aware of the establishment of Kaghan Development Authority and indeed this institution is of vital importance for ensuring proper utilisation of available potential,” he said.

In fact, the governor said, the Naran Township being a famous tourist resort carries a great importance on many counts and God willing with the passage of time, its importance will be further enhanced.
