Pakhtuns in Karachi will be provided all basic amenities: Ebad

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that the Pakhtun localities of Karachi would also be provided all basic amenities of life like other parts of the city.

The governor said this while talking to a six-member delegation of Pakhtunkhawa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) led by Nazeer Jan at Governor House. The governor said that facilities of health, education, communications, water and electricity were the right of each and every citizen without any discrimination and as such the government was attaching top priority for provision of the same.

On complaints of water shortage in Pakhtun areas, the governor said that new motors and pumps would be installed at pumping stations in these areas so as to improve the same to facilitate the inhabitants. He said the shortage of available potable water was the problem of whole city and keeping in view the same K-IV, a project for supply of additional 260 MGD water has been started. After its completion in 2017, shortage of water would be met, he added.

Dr Ebad said Karachi was truly a mini Pakistan as people from every corner of the country came to the city to get some kind of employment or business opportunity and this was the very reason that it was called economic hub of the country which contributed around 70 per cent to the national exchequer.

He said the Pakhtuns were very hard working community and they had contributed a lot in progress and development of Karachi. The complaints of Pakhtuns against police, NADRA and other institutions or departments would be resolved, he added. On complaints of non-payment of compensation to transporters for their vehicles which were set ablaze during riots, the governor assured that all genuine grievances in this regard would be resolved. The delegation thanked him for listening to their problems patiently and assuring for solution of the same. They also lauded personal interest of the governor for construction of bridge at Banaras. They further said that the governor was the most popular personality of the province who never hesitated in taking an action for the redressal of problems of the masses.
