Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said that comprehensive government policies have put the country on the path of progress and infrastructure projects at Gwadar port will transform the whole province into a regional and international hub.
He was addressing the 24th annual session of Pakistan Engineering Council in Islamabad on Thursday.
Iqbal said the global media that once termed Pakistan a safe haven for terrorists is now terming it Asia`s number one emerging economy.
He said the government has focused on all major sectors categorically that enabled the stumbling economy to stand on a firm footing.
The minister said investment was a daydream a few years back, but with the concrete measures taken by the government the country has attracted investment worth 46 billion dollars.
He urged the engineers to focus on productivity, quality, and innovation in their work.
Iqbal said steps have also been taken for infrastructural and social development by executing all important projects.
He said engineers must explore opportunities provided by China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
He said it is the hallmark of a democratic government that it has forged together diverse political forces and moved forward in all strata of national development.
