Getting rid of Nawaz Sharif is the key to Pakistan’s success and development as Sharif is incompetent, visionless, rudderless, inept and lacks any leadership skills
Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday said that if Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif accepted an extension in his service then his image, which is at its zenith, would come crashing down.
Talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami during his talk show DNA on Channel 24, he said that Panama Leaks is not the creation of the GHQ and if democracy has to be preserved then the culprits behind it must be brought to justice.
On the matter of civil-military relationship, he said, “When the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, PM Sharif, and CM Shehbaz are not on the same page themselves then how can you expect the military and civilian leadership to be on the same page?”
Rashid said that in the back of Nawaz Sharif’s mind is this nagging thought that the army and his government, led by him, do not share the same path. He feels that army is the biggest obstacle in his path, Rashid said, and added that the opposition is in his right pocket and Maulana Fazlur Rehman is in his left pocket; however, Sharif has never been able to buy the favours of judges and generals even though he tried it during the era of General (r) Asif Nawaz Janjua.
“Getting rid of Nawaz Sharif is the key to Pakistan’s success and development as Sharif is incompetent, visionless, rudderless, inept and lacks any leadership skills,” Rashid said, and added, “Sharif was caught red-handed in the Panama Leaks.”
Rashid added that Sharif can protect democracy if he wishes to, but he can also destroy it by enabling martial law. One or the other will have to happen, he predicted.
