WCLA warned to stop illegal constructions

Ahead of monsoon rains, the Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA) on Thursday has warned the people to stop illegal construction and for the purpose warning banners have been displayed in the area.

A few days back this was revealed in a high level meeting of City District Government Lahore (CDGL) and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) that more than 250 buildings were dilapidated in the Walled City Lahore. This was also observed in the meeting that such building were in danger of collapsing during the monsoon season.

Tania Qureshi, WCLA spokesperson has said in a statement that WCLA has warned strictly those who are involved in illegal constructions in the area. She said that such construction were not just ruining the real beauty of the area but also getting dangerous for human lives.

Tania said that authority has located 120 buildings in danger and which can be collapsed during the monsoon season. WCLA has served notices to 44 owners for structural repairs while 78 owners were served notices to demolish their building, she said, adding that so far WCLA has demolished 15 buildings and revamped 16 buildings in the Walled City.

She further said that WCLA has warned the owners to immediately repair the buildings otherwise stern action would be taken against them under the WCLA Act, 2012.
