According to 6th P@sha IT Salary Survey 2016, an increase of 13.4 per cent – as compared to 2015 – in all the job functions of the IT industry has been witnessed this year. Game designers have benefited the most from the salary bump, more than 33 per cent on the back of this salary increment in the industry.
Pakistan Software Houses Association, P@SHA, is one of the oldest information and communication technology associations in the region and the sole trade body in Pakistan representing the IT industry for over 20 years.
The company has been conducting the Annual Salary Survey for the past six years in order to highlight the average salaries, average increments, promotions and benefits of IT employees nationally and on city basis.
The highest paying job as per the survey is that of the chief executive officers’, who on average are earning Rs 484,520, up 26.4 per cent from last year. The IT & ITES Industry of Pakistan – directly employing approximately 120,000 people – observed the highest growth of 37.06 per cent in salaries of senior web developers’ posts.
Around 150 companies participated in the survey this year and data from 32,744 employees – working in 28 various job roles – both in core IT and business roles has been compiled in the report.
In this survey, 61 per cent companies from Karachi, 30 per cent from Lahore and 22 per cent from Islamabad were the participants with a 52 per cent, 26 per cent and 21 per cent of employee participation respectively. Two companies from Peshawar also participated in the survey this year.
