Michael Baker, 21, was walking near his home in Forest Grove, Oregon at around 1am on Monday morning when he walked past a man and asked if he was playing Pokémon Go.

The man appeared to not understand what Baker was referring to and approached him with a knife, before stabbing him and running away.

“I didn’t expect it to happen – it was pretty brief, just slice and ran,” Baker told KPTV. “I basically risked my life.”

But being attacked didn’t stop Baker in his “mission” to catch every Pokémon creature in his area, it instead stopped him from going to hospital.

“Right after I was stabbed, I continued my mission to Plaid Pantry to get chips and beer,” he added.

Baker has since had eight stitches in his shoulder.

It is not the first crime-related incident suffered by Pokémon Go players. In Wyoming, a teenage girl discovered a dead body floating in a river near her home when she was in search of a particular Pokémon character.

In Missouri, four armed teenagers used the game to place a “beacon” in a car park to act as a Pokestop to attract players and creating a trap to rob people.
