Balochistan graft scandal: Khalid Langov sent on 14-day remand again

An accountability court Thursday (today) handed over Balochistan former finance adviser to the chief minister, Mir Khalid Langov, to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on a 14-day.
The court has extended the remand of the former top finance official of Balochistan to NAB, for the fifth time.
The NAB officials produced the former advisor in the court today after completion of his previous remand period.
The NAB requested the court to grant an extension in Khalid Langov’s remand, which the court accepted and granted a time period of another 14 days for the accuser’s remand.

Earlier, NAB officials arrested Langov from outside the Balochistan High Court (BHC), where he appeared for the hearing of a pre-arrest bail plea in relation to the ongoing investigation of Balochistan secretary finance Mushtaq Raisani’s corruption scandal.
He was arrested as he was exiting the court premises after the BHC bench dismissed his plea.
On May 17, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had granted protective bail of 12 days to former Balochistan finance adviser Mir Khalid Langov.
, Langov said he was stepping down from his post to aid transparent investigations after a huge amount of the ill-gotten money was recovered from the residence of the provincial finance secretary Mushtaq Raisani.
The NAB had recovered more than Rs730 million from Raisani’s residence. He has been accused of embezzling billions of rupees from the local government development funds.
