The US State Department stated that it never said that Kashmir is an internal matter of India.
Replying to a question about PTI report which said that John Kirby, State Department spokesperson stated that Kashmir is an internal matter of India, the spokesman in his briefing clarified that the US is concerned by the violence in Kashmir and it encourages all sides to make efforts towards finding a peaceful solution.
When asked whether the US consider Kashmir as the disputed territory, the spokesman refused to respond saying that he would not say anything more than what has been stated.
